追追追小組／調查報導

網路無國界，從網路追追追受到的信件就可以證實，這次我們又接到一個特別的任務，一封有4張圖片的信件，內文只有這樣：「懲罰偷麵包的少年，在生存都成問題的地方，人道是奢侈的。」 圖片中有主角是一名男子和一個小男孩，最後一張圖是大卡車的輪胎壓過小男孩纖細的手臂──看到這樣的圖和文，你會做什麼結論？別急別急，請先看完我們的查證再做結論。

這次的案件頗麻煩，一是有圖，二是文字很少，更糟的是，除了有限的中文字，剩下的全是一堆彎彎曲曲的文字，我們推測是波斯文(後來證實也的確是），這已經遠超我們的語文能力範圍了。

無可奈何的情況下，還是上網試著找找相關資訊，運氣很好，我們很快的就找到相關的網頁：8 Year Old Boy Caught Stealing Bread In Iran

從這篇blog裡，我們得到更進一步的資訊，這幾張照片的背景是在伊朗拍攝的，中文所說「偷麵包的懲罰」，應該是從英文網頁翻譯來的，從這個站裡，我們更找到原報導的出處：http://web.peykeiran.com/net_iran/irnewsbody.aspx?ID=22394

回頭再找中文的資料，就可以發現在簡體的網站上也有一堆轉貼，而標題都是：
「車碾胳膊懲罰偷麵包小男孩的發指場面」(註:請參見最後面的補述)

但是從最早的英文blog，到以下相關的blog或討論串裡，我們發現最新更新的說法與最初的標題已有了很大的出入，參考相關blog：http://blogidaho.blogspot.com/2005/11/justice-8-year-old-iranian-boy.html


我們注意到版主的UPDATE上指出，根據前一個blog和據稱是照片原作者連絡後，得到以下的回覆：

Hi! It seems you have not read the text that came with the pictures. In irna there some who earn their bread by Maareke giry. In our case one of these maarke giry had hired a kid to do those unhuman show. You read the text that came with photos. bye

簡單的說，「作者」表示，小男孩的手被放在車輪下，並非因為偷麵包，而是為了「吃麵包」所做的「街頭表演」

於是，問題浮現，要確定這幾張圖究竟代表什麼意思，我們還是得了解附在圖片旁的波斯文報導在說什麼？

一開始，淡水河還傻傻的想看看網路上有沒有免費翻譯波斯文的網站，是找到幾個英文／波斯文翻譯網站，可惜都沒什麼用。最後甚至還download了一個翻譯軟體，可以把波斯文翻成英文，可惜這個也只能查單字──那一篇文字，淡水河連一個字有多長都分不清楚，此路依然不通。

最後，可以說是誤打誤撞，淡水河誤入一個國際翻譯發包網站，在發出翻譯的需求後，一下子就收到一堆回覆，其中大部分都是在跟淡水河談翻譯一篇要多少錢的（費用從10歐元到50歐元不等），不過運氣很好的是有幾位願意免費幫我們翻譯，請參見以下幾篇：

Hi, First of all I tried to call the phone number you'd mentioned in your email but it didn't work. Anyway, Th e picture shows a man! that is using a child to make money. It's kind of shows that are popular in poor regions of Iran, India and Pakistan to make and encourage watching people to pay for. It affected me very badly. I think some one must do something very serious to protect poor children in these countries against such usages. I hope this is useful information for you. Regards, Axxx Sxxx

Thanks again for your inquiry. As I haven't heard back from you, I thought I should write again to clarify the situation you referred to, and prevent any misunderstanding. What is going on in these pictures is just like a magic trick. You have probably seen magicians cut people in half and so on. This is also a kind of magic trick by a street performer. He pretends that a car passes over the child's arm. In reality, the child is a trained performer too, and is in no danger. I had heard about this type of performance many times while I lived in Iran. However, opponents of the Iranian government try to misuse this type of thing to mislead people about Iran. Regards, Ax

Dear Aron, Thank you for your enquiry. It's a sudo-miracle show. The man wants to earn money by trying to convicne the public that the child can bear the weight of the car with the help of some religious dead imam. As you see however it goes wrong. I trust I have informed you sufficiently. A. Nxxx

綜合以上這幾位的翻譯，我們可以得到關於那篇報導的大意：

這幾張照片是關於伊朗大城德黑蘭（Tehran）南部的一場表演，手持麥克風的男人向過往群眾宣稱，躺在車輪前的小男孩是他的小孩，不過事實上，這個男孩只是男子為了表演，向窮人家買來的。男子宣稱，小男孩有神聖的加持，然後就讓車子壓過小孩的手，藉著這樣的表演來向圍觀的群眾討賞錢。

換言之，這幾位翻譯的結果，和最初blog上的update是相符的，但為了慎重起見，我們還是希望能再多方查證，因此，殺蛇溪二號就出馬啦，經過他的查訪，我們又多得到許多資訊，見下一篇：

「發指場面」是從簡體網站直接copy下來的，我們也沒改，不過有幾位網友來信指這是錯字，我們也只好在這裡說明一下，「發指」其實就是「髮指」，令人生氣的意思，例如：淡水河一號報告愈出愈慢，真是令人髮指。
