Kong Decheng Passed Away at 89

First Academic Family in the Far East, the prestigious Kong Family, suffered a loss today as former Examination Yuan director Kong DeChen(孔德成), the 77th linear descendant, breathed his last on Tuesday at the age of 89. The Kong family kept a low key to go about the funeral affairs. The issue at hand right now, is who's going to be taking overthe worship officer's post for the annual Confucius Tribute ceremony?

Confucious's 77th linear descendant, Kong DeChen passed away at 89.

Tzu Chi Hospital Operations Director Liao says, his strengths had sapped this past 6 months after about of pneumonia. We think that his heart failure had something to do with this lung disease.

Decorations for the Memorial Service Hall are yet to be completed, and the Kong family kept a low profile. But a press conference is slated soon. Doctor Liao Chaosong, a cardiovascular specialist said that Kong is a very gracious, kind gentleman.

Kong is a very kind, and friendlyman. Before every treatment he made sure to shake my hands, and afterwards he told me to say hello to my wife. He's a literatus with a hearty appetite for good food and drinks. We were no matches for him.

Now that Kong has passed away, who's going to take over the worship service officer's post for the annual Confucius Tribte Ceremony? Kong is survived by agrandson, Kong Weining, and a son, Kong Weining. His eldest son, Kong Weiyi had passed away.

It remains to be seen which of the surviving children will takeover the post.
