據了解，美國的旅遊警示共分為 4 級，第 1 級為「普通預防措施」（ Exercise Normal Precautions ），第 2 級為「提高警覺」（ Exercise Increased Caution ），第 3 級為「慎重考慮」（ Reconsider Travel ），第 4 級風險最高，為「不要前往旅行」（ Do Not Travel ），代表可能有生命危險，政府未必能在當地提供協助。
面對疫情擴大，美國總統川普（ Donald Trump ）稍早也已於推特上指出，美國正與中國及其他國家就著新型冠狀病毒爆發緊密合作，並聲稱美國只有 5 宗（現在應為 6 例）確診個案，所有人恢復的狀況都相當不錯；安撫民心的同時，美國政府也正在進行一切必要的工作。
