少年組的頭獎作品捕捉萊氏擬烏賊在夜間發光的模樣。（圖取自倫敦自然史博物館網頁）另外，11到14歲少年組的頭獎作品，是克魯茲·艾德曼（Cruz Erdmann）在印尼北蘇拉威西（North Sulawesi）倫貝海峽（Lembeh Strait）水下成功拍攝到萊氏擬烏賊在夜間發光的模樣。
由倫敦自然史博物館自1964年開始主辦，野生動物攝影師大賽一直是野生動物攝影最高榮譽比賽。至於這屆其他得獎作品，還有這張中國攝影師樊尚珍在新疆阿爾金山自然保護區，拍到一群藏羚羊在被白雪覆蓋的沙漠上留下足跡的照片，獲得「自然環境中的動物」頭獎。

還有挪威攝影師裏卡德森（Audun Rikardsen）耗費三年時間才捕捉到的老鷹降落照也相當精采，獲得這屆攝影大賽「鳥類攝影」的頭獎。

這張如素描般的雪中野牛，是美國攝影師馬克斯·沃（Max Waugh）在黃石公園內拍攝到的，BBC報導中寫說野牛正在用臉來回摩擦地面，想要吃到被埋在雪地下面的草。這張照片獲得「黑白攝影」類頭獎。
